As part of Kings Park Ready Mix’s desire to keep our customers informed; we offer maintenance tips that help keep your new or previously poured concrete’s strength, finish and appearance lasting for many years to come.

 

      • Make sure the subgrade is compact.
      • Space joints properly. Space joints (in feet) no more than 2-3 times the slab
        thickness (in inches). A 4" slab should have joints 8-12 feet apart.
      • Avoid heavy loads on slabs for 7 days after placement during warmer months.
      • Slow Cure is Best. Concrete sets quickly in hot weather, therefore we
        recommend that the concrete be kept moist for the first 2 weeks. This is best
        done by hosing down the concrete several times a day or by placing a sprinkler
        on the concrete to help keep it damp. Following these tips will allow for a slow
        cure and better protection against cracks
